Madonna blames media for adoption firestorm

In this handout photo The Material Girl has come under fire for allegedly using her star power to adopt a 1-year-old boy from Malawi. Madonna told Oprah Winfrey she was surprised by the firestorm around her efforts to adopt a 13-month-old boy from the African country of Malawi. And she blamed the media for it. Madonna taped the interview Tuesday Oct. 24 2006 via satellite from London for airing Wednesday. She tells Oprah that she and husband Guy Richie had been thinking about adoption for two years.
